“Aquila” is Latin for eagle, the bird that sees further than others and moves when the moment comes. That image, in 2001, described how we wanted to work as entrepreneurs. It still does.
Aquila Group is a founder-owned investment and industrial development company. We identify structural trends early, back them with our own capital, and build the platforms that translate those trends into enterprise value. When a business has reached the scale at which an institutional owner can take it further, we hand it over, most recently with our asset management and data-centre platforms.
The themes we are focused on next reflect where we see structural demand, scarce capital, and a role for disciplined operators: digital infrastructure and distributed power, real estate, critical materials, controlled-environment agriculture, and infrastructure for defence and security. Chief Executive Officer
Co-Founder Aquila Group
Roman Rosslenbroich is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aquila Group. He is responsible for Aquila Group’s corporate development, strategy and investments. Prior to founding Aquila Group in 2001, he was Head of the fixed income rates division at Salomon Brothers in Frankfurt. Roman graduated in business administration from the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
Chief Financial Officer
Christian Ohl heads up Aquila Group’s finance function. Prior to joining Aquila Group in 2012, Christian was the Head of group controlling at a healthcare company. In 2002, he started his career in the audit and corporate restructuring divisions of Arthur Andersen (later Ernst & Young) where he was responsible for the restructuring of national and international photovoltaic, shipping and timber companies. Christian holds a degree in commercial law and is a former certified auditor and syndicus tax advisor.

General Counsel
Dr. Dino Duderstadt joined Aquila Group in 2017 and, in leading legal roles, built up the company’s international legal departments. With more than 18 years of professional experience, he is responsible for all legal matters as General Counsel of Aquila Group. Since 2025, he has also been steering the company’s operations as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Aquila Group, Dino worked in infrastructure project teams at Taylor Wessing and KPMG Law, where he served as Senior Manager.
Head Corporate Development & Strategy
Max Dreiner is responsible for Corporate Development & Strategy of Aquila Group and its businesses. Prior to joining Aquila Group in 2017, Max worked in the investment and financial service industry for companies such as EY and KPMG. He holds a master’s degree in investments and finance from the Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with distinction.

hscale is a pan-European data centre platform delivering sustainable and AI-ready infrastructure. It is a joint venture between Bain Capital and Aquila Group. In 2025, AQ Compute became part of hscale, marking a key step in hscale’s strategic expansion and brand evolution. With facilities across Europe, hscale serves hyperscalers and cloud services with high-performance, flexible infrastructure. Its designs feature ultra-high-density cooling, liquid cooling and heat reuse to support clients’ ESG goals.
AQ Acentor, Aquila Group’s partner in sustainable real estate development, oversees construction in Spanish residential real estate. With a strong industry network and a dedicated local team, the company manages these assets efficiently and offers institutional investors access to a premium portfolio.
Aquila Group, together with industrial engineering leader Dürr AG and investment firm Christ Capital, has established Future Farming Solutions (FFS) – a joint venture taking strategic positions in agri-tech businesses that address the structural challenges facing global fruit and vegetable production: climate pressure, water scarcity, and supply chain inefficiency.
The platform’s first investment is vGreens, a B2B precision agriculture technology company headquartered in Essen, Germany. Founded by a team of crop scientists, engineers, and AI specialists, vGreens has developed proprietary short-wave infrared sensors and an AI-driven software platform that gives indoor farmers unprecedented visibility into plant physiology.
